The Sharp ER-A420 cash register is no longer available. Sharp has excited the cash
register business all together. While the ER-A420 was a great register and there are
many still in service there are now better registers available. There are a couple SAM4s
registers that make good replacements for the ER-A420
The SAM4s register that is the closest match is the SAM4s SPS-320 model. This machine
has just as many features as the ER-A420 plus several really nice features the 420 was
missing. Those features include a larger multi line display, a SD card port and free utility
programming software.
The SD card is a very nice feature in cash registers because now you can back up your
program for security and also to program new registers as you need them. This feature
alone can save you hours of tedious programming. If you have ever programmed a
register with a 100 menu items you know exactly what we mean!
The SPS-320 is available as part of a series which consist of models with raised and flat
keyboards and with and without journal printer.
All of the SPS-300 series cash registers feature optional credit card interface including
the EMV chip readers.
